Mitsotakis says Greece gave up on Macedonian language and identity, got nothing in return

What was the requirement from Skopje that was even more important than the name? The Macedonian language and the Macedonian identity. We gave up on this without getting anything in return, and this is deeply concerning because it relates to Skopje's irredentism, says New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis, MIA reports from Athens.

In an interview with Alpha TV repeated that the party would not vote for the Prespa agreement.

"I would like to ask our fellow citizens how they feel when listening to Mr. Zaev and Mr. Dimitrov saying they are Macedonians and speak the Macedonian language. We will not ratify the agreement, in this parliament or in the next one, if the current one fails to do it," adds Mitsotakis.

He says the agreement's ratification in the Greek parliament will limit the options for any changes in the treaty.
