North Macedonia qualifies for 2023 World Handball Championship

The Macedonian handball team qualified for the 28th IHF Men’s World Championship, after Sunday’s 27:25 rematch victory over the Czech Republic at the Boris Trajkovski Sports Arena in Skopje.

Around 7,000 fans raised the roof as the handball players secured their eighth participation at the World Championships.

Sunday’s match will also go down in the history of Macedonian handball as the final one in the national team jersey of player Filip Mirkulovski, whereas coach and captain Kiril Lazarov will remain active in the national handball team for some time despite reports of retirement.

Wednesday’s opener between the Czech Republic and North Macedonia in Zlín ended in a 24:24 draw.
