The number of people killed as hurricane Matthew hit Haiti rose to at least 877.
Tens of thousands are left homeless in the impoverished Caribbean island country.
Fatalities were caused by falling debris and trees, or by flooding from the torrential rains. Large parts of the nation are left without electricity as well.
The hurricane is also causing damages in the US state of Florida, where evacuations are in place and people have battened down their homes and businesses.
Several people have died in incidents caused by the storm, and many are also left without electricity.
